Northern Lights in Reykjavik City Centre

The Northern Lights on the evening of 31st October were incredible and i was lucky to photograph them. My mother came over for a week and unfortunately we were unable to see them due to the unfavorable weather conditions but on the eve of her flight we had some of the best NL formations this Autumn.

Once again I decided to go to Viðey to photograph the Imagine Peace Tower in the hope to also have the Northern Lights but unfortunately they were very faint, next time. Instead my friend Gulli and I went photographing various other things, still a vary productive night I thought.

Imagine Peace Tower

On the 9th of October every year for the last five years Yoko Ono's Peace Tower is lit in memory of John Lennon. It is a great social event and this evening was made even more perfect with the presence of Northern Lights. Unfortunately I missed the best of the lights photography wise but was able to watch them as I helped ferry passengers from the mainland to Videy where the tower is located. Perfect evening for the occasion.

I have now been working with cetaceans for over 14 years and never in my life have I seen a Blue Whale. Yesterday it all changed and not only did I see one Blue Whale but two and lunge feeding at that. This was a once in a life time encounter, one i would never forget.
